SIPPING MY COFFEE AND SITTING IN SILENCE "Life isn't about struggling, and being unhappy, and then dying. It is about enjoying and appreciating everything life has to offer. Through joy, we glorify God." --Edwene Gaines, The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity Ah, those first few moments of the morning when everything is so profound. A new day is dawning, and endless possibilities lie ahead. The new house is blossoming, neighbors are friendly, and each day is a pleasure to awaken to. Did we downsize enough before we moved, probably not, but it's fun to realize what we really need and what we don't, and what other people will benefit from what we lovingly pass on. I am so blessed, and each day I discover new things ...

FIRST CAR "How you make money is more important than what you make." qoutes4sharing.com My first car was a 1961 Volkswagon Beetle. I got it in 1974, for sixty dollars. It was very beat-up, but it was my pride. There were tears all over the ceiling cloth, and I patched them up in many different material scraps, in mant different colors. The gas tank indicator didn't work, so I had to watch the mileage and fill up every 100 miles. It was so beat up, but I really loved that car. Life is a little like that first car, some of the things you like didn't cost that much. Sort of like gifts that are given with love, random acts of kindness, feelings you have towards friends, family, and pets. it is really true that it's the thought that counts. Now I drive a 2012 Hybrid Camery. What I love about it is the mileage it gets and the money I save on gas. I fill up once a month on gas, and it used to be four or five times a month with my last car. Good truly comes when you val...

FENCES "Good neighbors make good fences." "Something there is that doesn't love a wall." The Mending Wall , Robert frost Fences, do thy keep things protected from within, or do they keep bad things from coming in? The lines from Robert Frost's poetry pose are an interesting perspective. The answer lies in the eye of the beholder. Fences are like walls They hold things in and keep things out. In regards to people, keeping things in, bottled up, can lead to debilitating tension in there lives and may show up as aches and pains and other maladies. Sometimes the relief comes from sharing with someone you trust. For me, This has happened at numerous times. When I keep something bottled up inside me, I reach a pressure point, sometimes I feel a cold coming on. Once I share my problem, it's like a heavy load has been lifted off my shoulders. Sometimes w...

CAUSE AND EFFECT "A ny time your life, or my life, or the life of someone we know changes for the better through unexpected channels or circumstances, it's an example of a miracle." Shortcut to a Miracle , --Michael and Elizabeth Rand Perusing through the paper today I see, BLIZZARD IN LOS ANGELES! I believe that is a first; and with any major snow storm we probably stay inside. Staying inside is the effect cause by the storm. Now think about your life for a minute, what things have happened as a result of something else? I met the man I married as a result of a friend inviting him to church. I survived colon cancer as a result of catching it in stage one. A good friend told me to go to the doctor and get a sigmoidoscopy, the end result, the cancer was discovered, I had a portion of my colon removed, and I didn't die. Colon cancer is very slow growing, that i...

AGING TO PERFECTION As the years go by, I am surprised I am about to turn seventy. I am so blessed by the graceful movemnet of my body, and the ability to be in such great shape. I am up there with wine and cheese, they get better and better with age. The older I get, the more I love life. I find that I can truly express myself with no worry about what other people think of me. I can embrace the book by Terry Cole Whittaker, "What You Think of me is None of my Business." I have so many friends and family who continue to show that I am loved. I continue to see how many things I am capable of doing. With each decade that passes, I continue to think, "that's not very old". So to my friends and family for enhancing my life, love to you all! "Events stand out in our memories because they mark either high or low points in our lives. While they are from our past, they teach us very vital present-day lessons that come with some bad and good news. The bad news i...

THE SYNONYM FOR GOD IS LOVE "Emerson tells us that Love is a synonym for God. We are also told in the New Testement that 'He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is is love.' Love is free from condemnation, even as it is free from fear. Love is a cosmic source whose sweep is irresistible." Ernest Holmes --The Science of Mind Textbook It is February, a time when we are reminded of the beauty of love, companionship, and the joy that comes from sharing a quality life with the kindness and compassion of the friends and family in our lives. If you ever feel blue, think of those people as blessings to count. Max Baer wrote a book called Real Love, in it he is discussing what real love is. He says, "Happiness is caring about another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves." Think about that for a moment, really caring with no expectations for gett...
