STAYING ALIVE IN 2025
"Got the wings of Heaven on my shoes
I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose."
The Bee Gees
It's a new year, it's a new you. It's time to decide what you really need to change. If you change anything in your life, do it because in your heart and soul you feel the wisdom in changing. I feel that as you get older you do get wiser. What's really important in life bubbles to the surface, like champagne. Good friends and family; sharing yourself with others; assisting people who can use an extra boost; supporting a cause you believe in with your time, talent and treasures; believing in a Higher Power, all of these things all of these gifts build an attitude of gratitude.
New Year's resolutions abound: I will loose weight; I will make more money; I will find that certain someone to spend the rest of my life with.
Consider why you want to release extra weight, will it improve health issues, improve your mobility, allow you to play more fully with your kids and grandkids; or is it to impress other people, look like the models in the pictures in magazines and movies? Perhaps, adding a little more exercise each day, walking with other people, and being mindful about what you eat could solve you a few extra dollars, might be a thing to try. Plus, walking with others gives you some people to talk with, that makes the time go by a little easier and faster.
If you make more money, what will you do with it? Buy more things, buy a bigger house, or another car. That is certainly okay to do if you need any of those things. Perhaps you are saving for a trip to a place you have always wanted to travel to. Bravo! Follow your dream. Along the way remember the principal of giving and receiving, as well as being thankful. Give of your time, talent and treasures. As you give, so you shall recieve. Be thankful. The more grateful you are, the more things you will find to be thankful for.
If you want that certain someone in your life, start doing the things you love to do. If you love to watch sports, find a local place to go and watch them. If you love to dance, start line dancing, or take a swing dance class. Plant the idea of finding a friend to go to a movie with.Take a class at a local community college to learn more about a subject you are interested in. Find a new faith tradition you would like to explore.
I guess it all boils down to how easy it is to make a New Year's resolution, but it takes a little thought process about how you are really going to go about it.
"Life is what you make it. It can be filled with robotic precision and no things to brighten the day, or it can be joyous and kind, loving and peaceful."
