Metaphorically, it also applies to our own selves as well, being honest with what we say, becasue it keeps you from having to remember the lie that was told about it. Also, it is a reminder to think before you speak, because words have a habit of lingering on once spoken. For me I want to leave positive footprints on the hearts and minds of the people I meet, rather than to stomp on them with both army boots. Life is too short to be unkind to others.
