BEING BRAVE

"There is a trap door in your mind. When you open it, knowing yourself as I am cosciouness, new perceptions enter your way of thinking."
Raymond Charles barker,        The Power of Decision

What does it mean to be brave? To me it means to follow your intuition, to realize you don't have to do something just because other people are doing it, and to follow your dream without being talked out of it. My nephew had a group of friends that he went places with and did all sorts of adventurous and crazy things, but sometimes his friends wanted to go to far, and he would say, no, you'll have to do that without me. People often said that he was the voice of reason within the group. So, being brave doesn't mean you do things haphazzardly, but sometimes you may do things a little out of your comfrot zone.

Think of all the brave people in history. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake because she would not renounce her spiritual convictions. Norma Rae, who stood up for her fellow workers, and assisted them in creating in creating a Union to facilitate better working conditions for her fellow workers in the clothing industry. Thomas Edison, who continued to experiment over a hundred times with electricity, to make the first light bulb. There are countless others who were brave enough to succed in something they believed in.

If there is a decision you would like to make but have some trepidation about persuing it, do some meditating about it, say an affirmative prayer, or make a positive affirmation about it. Make two lists, one as to what might happen if you persue the action, and what might happen if you don't. Very often the list of persuing what would happen if you were to persue the action, overwhelmingly outweighs what will happen if you don't. Bottom line, be brave.

What decision decission is yours to make: changing jobs; letting go of a relationship that no longer serves you; what do you need to do about a health challenge you are facing? Whatever the issue, look at it with bravery, take a first step. Raymond Charles Barker reminds us, "Individuality necessitates decision.  Individuality means that you have to be you. No matter how much people may love you, they cannot be that which you are. The Spirit individualizes Itself in every person."
Be brave, follow your dreams, and live the life you love to live.
Love and ligth,
Rev Sandy Smith
