LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT

"Life is what you make it. It can be filled with robotic precision, or it can be joyous and kind, loving and peaceful."

Sandra Lindsey Smith,   Life's Garden Grows.

Do you ever feel that your day consists of turning off the alarm, stumbling into the bathroom to brush your teeth, grabbing a cup of coffe on your way to work, working long and hard with gruling efficiency, driving home, eating your dinner, watching some television and dozing off, only to wake up the next day and starting the same thing all over? Whew! Anyway to make a difference in the exhausting schedule?

What about waking up in the morning and thinking of all the things you have to be grateful for? A comfy bed, a roof over your head, clean water to drink and to shower with? And what about that job? It may be something you've dragged yourself off to, but at least you have a job. What can you do to transform it into something you enjoy? Tricky-but not impossible.

How about listening to some toe-tapping tunes you enjoy when you are getting ready to head out. Play something fun or jazzy on the way to work. Say hello to some of your workmates on the way to your desk. Invite some of them to a concert or movie over the weekend. Pick up a paper on the way home from work and look at section where new jobs are listed, or search a few new ones on the internet. Find what there is to like in your current job, while you are searching for something new. One of two things will happen: you find a job that you know you will like; or you will find that you like your current job better.

Shake yourself up, explore ways to find some joy in your life, take a dance class, find an interesting book to read, try some meditation or find a spiritual home.  Life is what you make it, add some pizzazz!

"There is a wize Zen saying that says you cannot stop birds from flying around your head but you can prevent them from making nests in your hair. As you begin to mature spiritually, you discover that although you cannot stop the world's chatter about lack and limitation from whirling around you, you can prevent it from lodging in your consciousness. How? Through meditation and affirmative prayer the compass of uour awreness developes the habbit of continuously turning in the direction of Spirit for intuitive guidance, wisdom, joy, peace and love."

Michael Bernard Beckwith,    40 Day Mind Fast/Soul Feast

How joyful are you? Do you find life to be mundane or do you find the time to notice the flowers blooming or the kids playing outside in the sunshine? Do you bask in the sunshine? Explore, imagine, express gratitude and it will return to you tenfold. Know that you are blessed, and that you make a difference the lives of others. Make them pleasant ones.

Love and light,

Sandy Smith
