SHARING THE LOAD MAKES THINGS LIGHTER

“The miracle is this: The more we share the more we have.”

                                                                       — Leonard Nimoy

Can one person, by his or herself, build an entire house? Well I imagine it is possible, but I also think it would take a very long time. If you move from one house to another, is refusing any help from others the best option?  There are many things in one's lifetime that become easier when we actually ask for help when we need it.

What is it that keeps a person from asking for a little assistance when it is needed? Is it the day and age we live in? A hundred years ago I have heard of neighbors getting together to raise a barn together, or members of a church group building a church from the ground up. Is sharing the load a thing of the past?

In the neighborhood where you live today, do you know your neighbors? At work, do you celebrate co-workers birthdays? How do you build community? Many people do not have family near them, so friends can be the family they choose. Sometimes volunteering is a good way to meet people, or going to a class or workshop affords the possibilities of meeting someone who has a similar interest. Reach out a helping hand to someone. Be brave, be bold, explore.

“The only thing that will redeem mankind is cooperation.”

                                                                              — Bertrand Russell

How can you be a help in your own community? What could you use some help with, or is there something you could help another person with? Don't be afraid to ask.

Love and Light,
Rev Sandy Smith
