HERE'S TO EVOLVING WITH THE TIMES
"Human beings are not our enemy. Our enemy is not the other person. Our enemy is the violence, ignorance and injustice in us and the other person. When we are armed with compassion and understanding, we fight not against other people, but against the tendency to invade, to dominate, and to exploit."
              --Tich Nhat Hahn
I am in my early seventies, and I am certainly the one who struggles with technology, but still I try. For me, I have agonized over each new phone that I change to, after I finally have mastered the old phone. But, life goes on and we have the ability to change with the changes that occur in our every day life. Have you ever struggled with this, or are you the brave and curious person who welcomes new technology?
To me, I think new technology is something that moves life forward. It's a little bit like embracing the newness that comes with Spiritual evolution. Many faiths struggle to keep up with the times, and yet change may be the very thing that keeps them alive; exploring real life ways to address what is unfolding in life; and ways to be of service to all, not to just a few. In any faith tradition, letting Spirit step out in Peace, Love and Joy, serving all people; seeing the way we can include every human being we come in contact with; and being the healing Essence of God, is what it takes to heal. We are the vehicles that Spirit works through, encompassing all humanity.
Living in America, on the same globe as all persons, let's get our priorities straight: Love whole-heartedly; include every person and listen to their ideas, and then share yours; celebrate the similarities and appreciate the differences. To have a world that works for all, we must share ideas and realize what a beautiful tapestry we are able to create.
"I say that at best we should try to help others, and if we cannot help them at least we should do them no harm."
Dalai Lama, Little Book of Inner Peace
Do you believe that to have Peace surrounding us, we must first have Peace inside us? I believe that anything positive that we wish to see in the world begins with us. To have Love, Peace, Joy or any other positive attribute, it begins within us. We must be it before we can share it with others. So, spread Kindness, Happiness, and Truth and have it reflect lovingly back to you.
Love, Light and Joy,
Rev Sandy Smith
