LIGHT DISPELLS DARKNESS

There is no better way to thank God for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark. --Helen Keller

Through my younger years I was afraid of the dark. My parents bought me a lamp that had a reading light on the top, and a nightlight on the bottom. That helped to calm my fears. Through the years I discovered, that, as Raymond Charles Baker said, "Fear is the dark room where negatives are developed." In my forties I discovered New Thought, and Ernest Holmes', The Science of Mind. It taught  me, that God is Light, and Love and Peace, and Kindness.

Now it seems to me that we need to remember and practice what Spirituality means. If it means, Justice for all, loving our neighbors as ourselves, caring for others who can use our help when they are sick or in need of human assistance, then we are not going about it in the best possible way. Exercising our humanity, how hard is that? Truly providing equal education for all; respecting all people for who they are, and what contributions they have made throughout history. No one truly knows what another person has been through, Because, as my mother would say, "Unless you walk a mile in another person's moccasins, you never know what his/her life is like."

Take the time to find out what someone else has been through, share your highs and lows. Let the light in.

"All things work for our good, Even that which we call evil is salutary, leading us to the Way, the Truth and the Life. Suffering should teach us a lesson which would cause us to refrain from mistakes; it carries a blessing with it when we learn how to garner knowledge from experience."

The Inner Light (Romans 8:2

How could a situation evolve into a new experience? Would prayer help? Would people working together help to shine light into the darkness? Now is the time to be a part of the solution. How can you play a part in using your positive ideas to make a positive difference?

Love and Light,

Rev Sandy Smith
